Raymond D. Biddiscombe, age 91, of Somers died Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Bethel Nursing Home, Ossining.
Mr. Biddiscombe was born April 28, 1917 at New York, NY the son of the late Raymond W. and the late Lillian (Geddis) Biddiscombe.

 He is a US Navy veteran and served in WW II and The Korean Conflict.

He was a Firefighter with FDNY with Engine 68 in The Bronx for many years.

Ray was known for his love and devotion to his family, his wisdom, knowledge and strength of human spirit.

Raymond is the beloved husband of Geraldine (DeRohan) Biddiscombe for 65 years.

Ray is the loving father of six children, also survived by two brothers and two sisters, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bleuer, James E. 58, of Mount Kisco, New York died on Sunday January 18, 2009 at the Rosary Hill Nursing Home in Hawthorne, New York. He is formerly of Fairfield, Connecticut. He was born on August 13th, 1950 in Binghamton, New York to Lorin and Alice (Hoffman) Bleuer. He graduated from Vestal High School in 1968 and Colgate University in 1972. Soon after graduating he started a career as a successful furniture designer; his pieces were featured in several popular publications, including the cover of Better Homes and Gardens Magazine. He founded Casa Verde Gardens in Southport, Connecticut, where his love of architecture and landscape design flourished; resulting in a number of award winning gardens over the 22 years that he ran the business.  He was also a published photographer and writer for Gardening Magazine. He will be remembered for his love of life and passion for photography, wildlife, gardens and the outdoors. Left to cherish their father’s memory are Nicole LeBlanc of Madison, Wisconsin; Stefanie Picard of Preston, Connecticut; James C. Bleuer of New York, New York; and Julia Bleuer of Fairfield, Connecticut. Jim also leaves his brothers John Bleuer of Wayland, Massachusetts; and Theodore Bleuer of Williamsville, New York; his sister Joan Blomberg of Vero Beach, Florida; his wife Lisa Yokana of Mount Kisco, New York; and his granddaughter Payton Picard. Jim’s legacy includes his approach to life – his remarkable strength, indomitable spirit and determination as he met both the wonderful experiences and the adversity life offered. The family will receive friends at Clark Associates Funeral Home, Katonah, New York on Friday, January 23 from 3:30 to 5:30 and 7 to 9 pm. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 24th at 2 pm at Bedford Presbyterian Church in Bedford, New York. Gale, Gerald V. age 97, of South Salem, NY died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Northern Westchester Hospital Center, Mount Kisco.

Mr. Gale was born October 20, 1911 in White Plains, NY

He married Dorothy Smith on March 10, 1957

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Merchant Marine thereafter.

Gerry was the founder and proprietor through five decades of Electric Gale Corp. in Bedford Hills and Croton Falls, NY.

He was active in many local civic organizations including the Katonah Rotary Club in which he had 35 years of perfect attendance. He was an avid boating enthusiast and amateur radio operator.

Gerry is survived by his beloved wife: Dorothy Gale, and his sons; Don of South Salem and Glenn of Tokyo and his wife, Mayumi.
Devoted grandfather of Akari Gale and brother of Madeline Oleniacz.

Visiting hours will be at CLARK ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME, KATONAH, NY on Thursday from 4 to 7pm.

Elaine H. Jacobowitz, age 68 of Katonah, NY died Sunday, February 1, 2009 at home.

Mrs. Jacobowitz was born in Brooklyn, NY  the daughter of Philip and Elsie (Greengold) Shadlen

She was an active member of the Lewisboro Seniors.

She was the wife of the late, Ira Jacobowitz who died in 2003

She is the Loving mother of David of Syracuse, NY ;Richard of Elmsford, NY and Robert of Katonah, NY, Sister of Leslie Shadlen of PA

MAKIN, GWENN D. died on January 5, 2009 after a battle with emphysema.  Born on October 23, 1925, she was raised in Harworth, NJ.  A graduate of Fair Fax Hall in Virginia, she attended Berkley Secretarial School and worked for several years for Cahill Paving before retiring in 1989.
She is predeceased by her loving husband of more than 40 years, Douglas Makin and is survived by her daughter, Pam; two sons, Gary and Dick; her two grandsons, Douglas and Dylan and several nieces and nephews.  Her quick wit and sense of humor will be very much missed.
The family will receive friends at the Clark Associates Funeral Home in Katonah on Thursday, January 8, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at Clark Associates Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2009.

Mancini,Salome age 81 died February 13, 2009 at her home following a long illness.
Mrs. Mancini was born October 28, 1927 in Frosinone, Italy the daughter of the late Sante and Luisa (Cinnelli) Abballe.

She married her beloved husband of 61 years; Pio Mancini in1947, they emigrated to the USA in 1949. He predeceased her on May 4, 2008.

Salome is the loving mother of Lydia (Andrew) Petrini, John (Anna Marie) Mancini and Richard (Joan) Mancini.

She is the dear sister of Emelio, Enza, Lucia, Letizia, Claudio, Anita, Angela and the late Angelo, Maria and Amelia. She is the devoted grandmother of Lisa (Christopher) Mayfield, Andrew (Stephanie) Petrini; Christine (Derek) Rossi; Michelle (Taylor) Wintje, Diana Mancini; Richard (Lisa) Mancini Jr., Daniel, Christopher, and Andrew Mancini and cherished great grandmother of Milan and Richard Mancini III; Matthew Thomas Mayfield and Andrew Petrini IV.

She was an avid exercise enthusiast; She loved gardening and loved cooking for and being with her family and friends. She was known as the Matriarch of her family.

Mandia, Charles J. , age 80, of Goldens Bridge and Jupiter Island, FL. died Sunday, January 18, 2009 at home.

Mr. Mandia was born June 10, 1928 in Queens, New York, the son of the late Anthony and the late Amelia (Tesauro) Mandia.

He married Jacqueline Spada in Scarsdale, NY on July 31, 1955.. 

Charles was employed by Katonah Lewisboro School District, Cross River, NY as a High School Science Teacher and was a member of the Katonah Rotary.

Throughout his 25 years as a teacher at John Jay H.S., Mr. Mardia aspired to forge a meaningful, lasting bond with his students based on mutual fondness, respect and love of learning. His retirement years were devoted to his family, real estate interests, tennis and travel.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline Mandia and one beloved son: Bruce Mandia of Goldens Bridge, NY Devoted grandfather of Christopher and Katharine Mandia Brother of Robert Mandia and Joan Rinaldi and the late Grace Vaccaro, Joseph Mandia and Petta Molinaro.

Meyer Robert J. “Bob”, age 52, of South Salem died Sunday, February 15, 2009 at home after a long courageous battle with kidney cancer. Bob was born February 28, 1956 at Queens, NY the son of Albert A. and the late Ruth Meyer. He was employed by Local # 1430 in White Plains, NY as a Business Manager. Bob was a past School Board member for the Katonah Lewisboro School District. He was a past member of the Manhasset-Lakeville Volunteer Fire Dept. and member of the Democratic Committee of Lewisboro. Bob is the beloved husband of Mary Meyer for 18 years and the loving father of Rachel and Colby; dear brother of Rosemarie D’ Andrea, Ruth Meyer, Maureen McCarthy, Albert J. Meyer and Jimmy Meyer; Cherished son-in-law of Jane and Lorenzo Lentino and loving brother-in-law to the Lentino family. Bob was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Padovani, Julius A, 80, of Katonah, NY died Monday, January 26, 2009 in Naples, Fla. Mr. Padovani was born in The Bronx, the son of the late Guido and the late Josephine Padovani. He served in the US Army following World War II. He was a local restaurateur from 1971 through 1986 and was the proprietor of Guilios Restaurant in Somers.
Julius was the loving husband for 39 years to Beverly Padovani and the beloved father of Paul and Jennifer Padovani and the beloved father of Robert, Gary and Janet Padovani from his first wife Gloria Padovani. He was the devoted grandfather of Rachel, Robert Jr., Jill, Michael, Steven, Max, Madelyn and Sophie and great grandfather of Sidney Patterson.; loving brother of Albert Padovani of Somers and Orlando Padovani of Mahopac.

PANDOLFI, MARIO of South Salem died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Norwalk Hospital.
Mr. Pandolfi was born on April 29, 1920 at Falconara in Ancona, Italy.  He was the son of the late Enrico and Laura (Frontini) Pandolfi.
He was a partner and proprietor of Orlando Shoe Repair in Corona, NY.
He was a member of the Lewisboro Seniors.  He will be fondly remembered for his joy of living, being a devoted husband and father and beloved "Nonno."
Mario is the devoted husband of the late Rose Pandolfi and beloved father of Annalinda Ragazzo and son-in-law, Richard Ragazzo of Pittsford, NY.  Loving grandfather of Adriana and Andrew Ragazzo of Pittsford, NY.  Dear brother of Aldo Pandolfi and sister-in-law, Amadea.  Fond Uncle of Enrico Pandolfi, Eleanora Pandolfi and Laura Gaggiotti of Falconara, Ancona, Italy.

RENWICK, JR., JOHN PHILLIP of Bedford, NY died January 8, 2009 at age 87.  He was predeceased by his wife, Louise Husted Renwick and is survived by their sons, John P. Renwick III of Katonah, NY, James B. Renwick of Bedford, NY, David R. Renwick of Rehobeth, MA and their wives, Meryl S. Renwick, Marjorie B. Renwick and Terell N. Renwick.  He is also survived by his sister, Beatrice R. Jordan of Newtown Square, PA and ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.  He attended Taff School and Trinity College; served in the Army in WW II and played field hockey in the 1948 Olympics.  For many years he owned and managed Renwick and Winterling Real Estate in Bedford.  Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to St. Matthews Church, Bedford, NY  10506.  A Memorial service will be held at St. Matthews on January 13, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.
RICE, RUTH E., a 52 year resident of South Salem, NY passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Northern Westchester Hospital after a prolonged illness.  She was 86.
Miss Rice was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 7, 1922, the only child of William R. Rice and Marie E. Morrisey Rice.  Her Grandparents were Senator Jacob Rice and Sophie Derrenbacher Rice of Kingston and William Morrisey and Minnie J. Morrisey of Yonkers, NY.  She lived her childhood in her parents home next door to her Morrisey grandparents.  She moved to Bronxville in the mid 1950s and to South Salem in 1956, where she remained until her death.
Miss Rice was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, The College of New Rochelle with a Bachelor of Arts degree and Fordam University where she earned a Masters Degree in Social Services.
Her passion was Social Work and she was employed by Catholic Charities and volunteered with the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps.  During her career she drove ambulances, tended to the sick and injured and received several Public Service awards for her ham radio work during natural disasters.
She is survived by loving members of the Rice and Morrisey families all across the USA, from first cousin, Agnes Rice Silo of Pelham, NY to first cousin, Donald C. Morrisey of Seattle, WA.  She will be remembered fondly by numerous close friends and members of her church, St. Mary of the Assumption, Katonah, NY.
Ruth was admired for her spirit, generosity and can-do personality.  She was an avid boater, loving both sailing and power boating and spent many wonderful hours on the water with friends and cruising solo.  She not only piloted the boat, she maintained it with a skill that enabled her to take care of herself and others in almost any situation imaginable.  She drove the ambulances with great skill, performing all her  work extremely well in what then was a man's world.
She will also be remembered for her devout faith and her life-long participation with the Church.  From this came her devotion to Social Work and many were helped by her when their need was the greatest.
The family will receive friends at her Memorial Service to be held at her church, St. Mary of the Assumption, 117 Valley Road, Katonah, NY at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2009.  Internment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Ave., Hawthorne, NY where she will rest with her parents and maternal grandmother.

Tannen, Sylvia age 87, of Somers, NY died Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Field Home-Holy Comforter, Yorktown Heights.
Mrs. Tannen was born September 16, 1921 in New York City

She was the wife of the late Sidney Tannen who died in 2001

She was a school teacher for the NYC Board Of Education

She is survived by her niece, Joanne Hannrahan

Burial will be in Eternal Light Memorial Garden, Boynton Beach, FL

WALKER, CHRISTOPHER T. age 25 of Somers, NY died tragically on January 17, 2009 as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident in Yorktown.
Chris graduated from Somers High School in 2002.  He was a three letter varsity athlete. Chris then enlisted in the Army and served two tours of duty in Iraq.  He received the Army Commendation Medal/National Defense Service Medal/Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal/Global War on Terrorism Service Medal/Overseas Service Ribbon.  He was a member of the Somers VFW.  Chris was currently working at New York Sports Club as a personal trainer.
He will be remembered for his endearing smile, outgoing personality and zest for life.  His sincerity, generosity, loyalty and love for family and friends was always evident.
Chris is survived by his parents Paul and Janet Walker of Somers, NY, his brother and sister-in-law, David and Liz Walker, of Carmel, NY, his grandparents and his mother, Janet Morecraft of Indiana, plus numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins.  He is also survived by a half-brother, Tim, in Florida.

Charles William Wagner, age 97,a longtime resident of  Bedford died  on Friday, February 6, 2009 at Somers Manor Nursing Home, Somers.
Mr. Wagner was born February 5, 1912. the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Hoehn) Wagner. 
He served in the Army from 1943 to 1945 during World War II .
Charles was employed by Bordens and  Emmadene dairies as a milkman  for over 40 years and later as an office manager for Enquest Chemical,Brooklyn N.Y.
 He was happily married to Anne Lipinsky Wagner onJuly 1,1950
Charles was a member of Kisco 708 Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons,Pyramid Shrine,Bethlehem Crusader Commandry, theV.F.W. in Mt.Vernon,NY.as well as a Volunteer Firefighter in  Mt.Vernon
He was an active member of the Croton Falls Community Church
Charles was the beloved husband of the late Anne Wagner and was the loving father of Amy Markland (Keith) of Poughkeepsie, N Y,Mark Wagner (Liz) of Brewster,NYand Pastor Timothy Wagner (Vincent Hutchings) of Croton Falls,NY.
 He was the devoted grandfather of Kathleen and Madeline Wagner
